Hello! I'm happy that you have stopped by for a visit and I hope you found what you were looking for!
Just a little about me; I have always loved computers and was exposed to them at an early age. When I got to the 8th grade, I saw a demonstration of something called a KoalaPad. The KoalaPad was an early digitizer tablet that was connected to an Apple IIe. The teacher explained that this could be used for drafting someday and, for some reason, I decided then that I wanted to be a draftsman when I grew up!
When I got to high school, I enrolled in drafting class. At first, all drafting was done the “old fashioned” way with T-squares, pencils and erasers. In the middle of my junior year, the school got a few PCs with AutoCAD 10 on them – that turned out to be my first experience with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). I was hooked!
My first job after high school was working for a small manufacturing company. I was responsible for drafting the mechanical designs given to me by the engineers. In 1994 I moved to Texas and got a job working for a surveying and engineering company. This was a new kind of drafting for me, but, my boss was willing to train me. All these years later, I'm still at it!
I am passionate about drafting. There is something about taking some data points collected in the field, property descriptions contained in deeds and plats, and transforming them into a product that allows someone to sell their property or develop it for further use. I view my work as a form of art and I take great pride in creating plats that are accurate and thorough, as well as aesthetically pleasing. If you add me to your team, I'm sure you will feel the same way!
